Propagation-Based General Relativity

چکیده

It is assumed that the radial propagation of light with respect to the naive coordinate system of the observer is uniform and isotropic and that the physical rate of propagation of light is the same for all observers. In accelerated frames of reference, these assumptions lead to the findings that the measured value of c is a function of the gravitational energy per unit mass (GEPUM) of the observer, and that this is due to the physical characteristics of the standard measuring-devices being a function of their GEPUM. The consequences of these findings include observers who at rest with respect to each other assigning different values to the same physical separation, the mixed metric tensor gν describing how gravitation affects measuring-devices, and the De-Broglie wavelength being a function of an object’s GEPUM. How the measured values of various types of physical quantities are affected is described. The gravitational Doppler shifting of light is viewed differently. The correct value for the deflection of light is obtained without the use of Huyghen’s Principle. The Schwarzschild solution is re-examined: The physical size of radial coordinate 2m is 0, a traveler must perceive himself to go an infinite distance to reach the radial coordinate of 2m, and gravitational self-potential energy reaches a minimal value at the radial coordinate 3m. Therefore, black holes do not exist in this theory; Gravitational collapse forms hyper-massive star-like objects instead. 04.20.Cv, 04.40.Dg, 04.70.-s, 98.62.Ai, 98.63.Js Typeset using REVTEX E-mail: [email protected]

Differential Forms and Wave Equations for General Relativity

Recently, Choquet-Bruhat and York and Abrahams, Anderson, ChoquetBruhat, and York (aacy) have cast the 3+1 evolution equations of general relativity in gauge-covariant and causal “first-order symmetric hyperbolic form,” thereby cleanly separating physical from gauge degrees of freedom in the Cauchy problem for general relativity. A key ingredient in their construction is a certain wave equation...

The Speed of Gravity in General Relativity and Theoretical Interpretation of the Jovian Deflection Experiment

According to Einstein, the notions of geodesic, parallel transport (affine connection), and curvature of space-time manifold have a pure geometric origin and do not correlate with any electromagnetic concepts. At the same time, curvature is generated by matter which is not affiliated with geometric concepts. For this reason, the fundamental constant c entering the geometric and matter sectors o...

General relativistic model for experimental measurement of the speed of propagation of gravity by VLBI

A relativistic sub-picosecond model of gravitational time delay in radio astronomical observations is worked out and a new experimental test of general relativity is discussed in which the effect of retardation of gravity associated with its finite speed can be observed. As a consequence, the speed of gravity can be measured by differential VLBI observations. Retardation in propagation of gravi...

k−Essence, superluminal propagation, causality and emergent geometry

The k-essence theories admit in general the superluminal propagation of the perturbations on classical backgrounds. We show that in spite of the superluminal propagation the causal paradoxes do not arise in these theories and in this respect they are not less safe than General Relativity.

Bulk Viscous Bianchi Type VI0 Cosmological Model in the Self-creation Theory of Gravitation and in the General Theory of Relativity

In the second self-creation theory of gravitation and in the general theory of relativity, Bianchi type VI0 cosmological model in the presence of viscous fluid is studied. An exact solution of the field equations is given by considering the cosmological model yields a constant decelerations parameter q=constant and the coefficients of the metric are taken as A(t)=[c1t+c<su...

Rotation in relativity and the propagation of light

— We compare and contrast the different points of view of rotation in general relativity, put forward by Mach, Thirring and Lense, and Gödel. Our analysis relies on two tools: (i) the Sagnac effect which allows us to measure rotations of a coordinate system or induced by the curvature of spacetime, and (ii) computer visualizations which bring out the alien features of the Gödel Universe. In ord...
